Business Type: Business Aviation Company
Location: Southeast Asia
Recruitment Type: Permanent Aviation Recruitment
Key Stakeholders: HR Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer
Our client, a leading business aviation company providing charter flights, aircraft management and ground handling services across Southeast Asia, approached GOOSE Recruitment with a confidential leadership hiring challenge.
Having previously partnered with us on recruitment projects, the client discussed the requirement during a business development conversation. They were seeking to replace their existing Head of Airworthiness due to performance concerns. An alternative recruitment provider had already begun the search but had been unable to deliver suitable candidates.
The client required a highly experienced airworthiness leader capable of driving operational improvements, strengthening compliance standards and implementing meaningful change across the organisation.
The Challenge
This assignment presented several unique challenges.
The search was highly confidential, preventing the client from advertising the position or disclosing company details during the initial stages of the recruitment process. Protecting the organisation's identity and maintaining discretion throughout the search was critical.
In addition, the successful candidate needed to fully relocate to Southeast Asia, significantly reducing the available talent pool. The client also required a leader capable of introducing new policies and processes whilst gaining the support of existing teams and stakeholders.
Finding a candidate with the right combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, change management experience and willingness to relocate created a particularly demanding search.
The Solution
Due to the confidential nature of the assignment, a traditional advertising campaign was not appropriate. Instead, we implemented a targeted headhunting strategy focused on identifying and engaging senior airworthiness professionals from across the global aviation market.
Working closely with the client throughout the process, we provided regular market feedback, candidate insights and recruitment consultancy to ensure the search remained aligned with the organisation's objectives.
Our Approach
Detailed Understanding of the Requirement
We worked closely with the HR Director, COO and CEO to build a detailed understanding of the role, the organisational culture and the specific challenges the successful candidate would be expected to address upon joining.
This enabled us to clearly define the ideal candidate profile and focus our search on individuals capable of delivering both technical expertise and transformational leadership.
Targeted Executive Search
Given the confidential nature of the vacancy, we adopted a full headhunting approach. Initial outreach focused on presenting the opportunity, responsibilities and relocation destination without revealing the client's identity.
Our extensive aviation network and market knowledge enabled us to identify and engage highly qualified passive candidates who were not actively seeking new opportunities.
Ongoing Stakeholder Management
Throughout the assignment, we maintained regular communication with all key stakeholders, providing weekly search updates and market intelligence.
We coordinated interviews, managed candidate engagement and facilitated offer negotiations to ensure a smooth and efficient recruitment process.
Relocation and Onboarding Support
Relocating internationally can be a significant consideration for senior aviation professionals. We provided support throughout the relocation and visa process, helping both the client and successful candidate navigate the complexities involved.
The Results
The search was completed successfully, with an offer secured within six weeks of commencing the assignment.
The successful candidate relocated to Southeast Asia and joined the organisation as Director of Airworthiness. Within the first few months, they successfully implemented new policies and procedures while gaining the support of the wider team.
Key Outcomes
Successful appointment of a Director of Airworthiness
Offer accepted within six weeks of commencing the search
International relocation successfully completed
New policies and procedures implemented within the first few months
Strengthened leadership capability within the airworthiness function
Conclusion
This assignment demonstrates the value of a targeted and consultative recruitment approach when hiring for highly confidential aviation leadership positions.
By combining specialist aviation market expertise, proactive headhunting and close stakeholder collaboration, GOOSE Recruitment successfully delivered a critical leadership hire within a challenging and confidential environment.
Our ability to identify passive talent, manage a discreet recruitment process and support international relocation enabled the client to secure the expertise needed to drive operational improvements and support future growth.

They treated me as a human being and genuinely cared for me during my interview process, and after I successfully got the job, they continually followed up and helped with my relocation and settling in."
