The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will hold overall responsibility for the organisation’s design activities, airworthiness compliance, and safety oversight.
Head of Design Organisation Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all design activities in line with regulatory and quality requirements
- Ensure ongoing compliance with EASA Part 21, the DMS, and the DOH
- Hold overall technical responsibility for design outputs and continued airworthiness
- Manage resources, workload, and personnel within the design organisation
- Promote a strong safety culture, including effective SMS implementation
- Oversee staff competence, training, and organisational capability
- Maintain effective oversight of airworthiness and certification activities
- Act as the primary interface with the Aviation Authority
- Oversee change classification, compliance verification, and approvals
- Authorise key airworthiness roles and conduct certification reviews
- Maintain and update the Design Organisation Handbook
You are an experienced aviation professional with strong leadership capability and a solid understanding of EASA Part 21 and EU regulatory frameworks. You are comfortable operating in a high-responsibility environment, balancing regulatory compliance, safety, and operational demands.
You will have:
- Proven experience within EASA Part 21 design and certification environments
- Strong knowledge of certification standards and EU aviation regulations
- At least 7 years’ experience in a senior or responsible aviation role
- Effective leadership, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
- A collaborative approach with strong attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Electrical, or Avionic Engineering
