The Ground Operations Manager will report directly to the Managing Director.
The successful candidate shall have thorough knowledge of an airline outsourced ground operations concept.
- Ensure that all ground handling operations and activities are carried out in compliance with EASA.ORO.GEN.200 (EC 965/2012) and relevant UK CAA regulations.
- Ensure that the management of all third-party contracts for ground handling operations is carried out in compliance with all operational, security and health & safety requirements.
- Ensure that all ground operations personnel are aware of and compliant with all requirements listed in the ground operations manuals relevant to their function.
- Monitor and lead investigations on all issues relating to safety, security and health and implement corrective/preventative actions to avoid reoccurrence.
- Participate in functional Safety Action Group and Air Safety Review Board meetings, ensure that any non-conformities are addressed and closed to the airline satisfaction.
- Create, manage, and control process efficiency across the airline network, by coaching and supporting all members of own and third-party teams, ensuring the highest quality of customer service and operational productivity whilst embedding a culture of engagement and high performance.
- Build strong working relationships locally and partner closely with stakeholders, including within the organization, third-party suppliers and airport management at allocated bases and outstations.
- Lead and manage the start-up ground operations at all new airports.
- Lead and manage the roll out of new systems and technologies in the area of ground operations.
- Support commercial and procurement departments in selecting and contracting suppliers of ground handling services.
Desired Skills and qualifications-
- University Degree (MBA, MA, MSc, BA, BSc) in Economics, Operations Management, Aeronautical or Technical studies.
- 3+ years of relevant management experience in the aviation industry (airline/airport operations or ground handling, in customer facing and/or under the wing roles).
- Able to pass successfully the numerical and verbal reasoning skill test.
- Change management or project management (Lean Sigma, root causing/problem solving methodologies) skills and experience.
- Proven ability to effectively manage demanding internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate the commercial acumen required to succeed as a senior leader in airline/airport operational environment.
- Strong understanding of IATA SGHA and Ground Handling SLA structure.
- Knowledge of airline systems - DCS (Go Now or other), AIMS, Safety Management software will be an advantage.
- Experience in managing teams remotely will be an advantage.
- Full computer literacy with experience of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc).
- Fluent English, preferably also speaker of another European language.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in aviation, engineering, technology or a related area.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in aviation safety, compliance and quality control; and Fluent in English.
