Key Responsibilities-
- Lead and develop the Safety function to achieve high-quality Safety & Compliance outcomes.
- Engage with senior management, safety leads, customers, and regulators.
- Oversee hazard identification, risk management, and crisis response planning.
- Experience and Expertise in Safety Standards
- Practical experience and expertise in aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
- Comprehensive Knowledge
- Operational Requirements: Knowledge of relevant parts of operational procedures.
- AOC Holder’s Specifications: Understanding the AOC (Air Operator Certificate) holder’s operational specifications, when relevant.
- Operations Manual: Familiarity with the need and content of the AOC holder’s operations manual, when applicable.
- Specialised Safety Knowledge
- Human Factors (HF): Understanding HF principles.
- Safety Management Systems (SMS): Expertise in SMS as per UK management requirements, including ICAO Annex 19 and compliance monitoring.
- Relevant Work Experience
- At least 5 years in a relevant role, with a minimum of 2 years in the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position.
- Educational Qualifications
- Either a relevant engineering degree (aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, avionics, etc.) or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification, with additional education approved by the CAA.
- Alternatively, an additional 5 years of experience in relevant aircraft maintenance, airworthiness management, or task surveillance may substitute for the degree.
- Knowledge of Organisation's CAME
- Familiarity with the organisation’s Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME).
- Aircraft Type Knowledge
- Formalised training on relevant aircraft types, equivalent to Part-66 Appendix III Level 1 General Familiarisation. Training may be provided by a Part-147 organisation, the manufacturer, or another CAA-accepted entity. For lighter aircraft (2,730 kg MTOM or less), this may be replaced by documented evidence or a CAA-assessed knowledge demonstration.
- Maintenance and Regulatory Knowledge
- Proficiency in maintenance methods and thorough understanding of applicable regulations.
